Reporting Racism
Donegal Intercultural Platform marked the UN Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (21st March) by holding a workshop on the theme of ‘Reporting Racism’ and also launched their Intercultural Hub as a Racist Incident Reporting Centre – part of the Irish Network Against Racism’s (INAR) iReporting system.
We encourage and will assist people making reports of racist incidents that they have experienced or that they may have witnessed to the Gardaí. They have the power to investigate and where appropriate prosecute in relation to racist incidents. However we believe it is vitally important to capture the extent of racist incidents and so we now provide a Racist Incident reporting centre at our Intercultural Hub.
We can assist people report incident, upload photos, audio or video evidence and these reports will be collated and used to evidence the extent and nature of such incidents across Donegal.
INAR – the Irish Network Against Racism coordinate this work and the analysis and annual reporting is undertaken by Dr. Lucy Michael from Ulster University. Visit iReport Website for more information
